Jakarta – Candidate number 2, Prabowo Subianto, took advantage of the closing statement moment in the final presidential debate to call for unity and apologize to the other candidates.
He said that during the 2024 Presidential campaign period, the unity and integrity of the nation were affected. Therefore, Prabowo, representing the number 2 candidate and the Indonesian Forward Coalition (KIM), apologized to candidates 1 and 3, if there were any unpleasant things during this campaign.
“Brothers and sisters of the nation, we have just spent the last few months conducting a campaign full of spirit, full of competition, and sometimes full of harsh words. But, our intentions are good, I think all 3 candidates want the best for the people of Indonesia,” said Prabowo in his closing statement in the fifth debate session of the 2024 Presidential Election held at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), Jakarta, on Sunday (4/2).
“On behalf of Prabowo-Gibran and the Indonesian Forward Coalition, I apologize to candidate 1, Mr. Anies-Mr. Muhaimin; and candidate 3, Mr. Ganjar and Mr. Mahfud, if there were any words or actions from us during this campaign that were unpleasant. We apologize wholeheartedly,” continued Prabowo, followed by a bow gesture by Gibran.
In fact, the struggle of the three candidates is aimed at giving the best for the nation and the people of Indonesia. He then stressed that they are all brothers and urged all elements and components of the nation to always maintain unity and integrity, especially harmony among Indonesia’s leaders.
“All of you, what’s important is that we must build and uphold harmony, unity, and brotherhood among all elements and groups of the Indonesian nation, especially harmony among the leaders of Indonesia. I consider Mas Anies, Mas Muhaimin, Mas Ganjar, Prof. Mahfud as my own brothers. We fight for Indonesia, we fight because of our love for the people of Indonesia,” he said.
Prabowo also thanked the leaders of Indonesia, from the first to the seventh president of the Republic of Indonesia. All of Indonesia’s leaders, he said, are the best sons and daughters of the nation who have protected this country.
“We are grateful to all the leaders of Indonesia, all the presidents of Indonesia, Bung Karno, Mr. Suharto, Mr. Habibie, Gus Dur, Mrs. Megawati, Mr. SBY, and Mr. Joko Widodo. They are the best sons and daughters of the Indonesian nation,” said Prabowo.
In line with what has been done by the leaders of Indonesia, Prabowo then committed to continuing this struggle and becoming a leader for all Indonesians. Together with his team, Prabowo is determined to eradicate poverty, hunger, corruption, and malnutrition in Indonesia.
“If Prabowo-Gibran and the Indonesian Forward Coalition, with the permission of the Almighty God, receive a mandate from the people, we will be the national leaders for all Indonesians. I will be the president for all Indonesians, including those who did not vote for me, including those who do not believe in me. I will fight for all Indonesians,” he concluded. (SENOPATI)
